Barista Mommy

Today I’d like to share two more recent custom wordpress designs with you! The first project for Barista Mommy is a recently launched blog design with bright, fun colors and a slight vintage feel. Susana requested gold sparkle, florals, watermelon pink, and Anthropologie- what a brilliant combination, right? If you think all of the creativity comes from me, think again- most of my clients have amazing ideas, which usually spark most of my own! Susana was a breeze to work with, and I think we are both proud of the finished result :)

Jenny Don’t Be Hasty

The second design is for another client from Ireland (love you guys!), Jenny. We both share a love for beauty and makeup, so I was excited to work with her on a new blog ‘makeover’. She had specific ideas in mind, mentioning a typewriter and a colorful but clean layout. We had a great client/ designer relationship as well- sometimes I think I have the best job in the world :)  Jenny just got back from visiting Paris, so be sure to stop by and check her out!

It’s been just over a month since we signed the papers on our new house, and while we play the waiting game I’ve been doing some pinning and planning. (Does my recent chevron pinning frenzy make a bit more sense now? :) I’ve been studying the floorplan of our new home, and we went take a few measurements from the same house plan being built in another neighborhood last weekend.

We are assuming that most of our ‘hang out’ time will most likely take place upstairs in the new game room. It makes the most sense to relocate our current living room decor to the new game room, while buying a few new items for our downstairs living room.

The first thing we chose to purchase for the new living room was a black and white 8×10 chevron rug- and can you blame me? I still haven’t nailed down the color scheme for the room, but I think that this rug will jump start an awesome design and make the space feel a bit modern. ;)

We’ll be heading to the design center this week to choose our materials for the house. I’m planning on snapping some photos to share with you guys, I’ll keep you posted!

I recently discovered and purchased some amazing new lipstick duos. CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks are my new current obsession! There are 13 color duos, and I picked up Stunner and Pucker. The darker ends of these flipsticks are super pigmented and soooo pretty! You can wear the colors on their own or blend them for a shimmery look.

Use or Download the Old Standard Font

I’m currently obsessed with two random things- tiny succulents in little pots, and the Old Standard google web font (especially in italic). This modern serif font is clean but has the ability to be fancy and really stand out if you need it to.

Since Mother’s Day, I’ve gone a little crazy and planted about 5 or 6 more succulents! I  have distributed them to different rooms in my house and gifted a few to friends. Dax planted one in a tiny red watering can for his teacher and it was the cutest thing! I especially love the sweet names of the succulents- baby toes, chalky fingers, springtime, and zanzibar to name a few.

And on a random note- it’s officially summertime!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Set Up

1. The first thing you’ll need to do is head on over to the LinkWithin website.
2. Next you’ll need to fill in the fields and choose your options, then click ‘Get Widget’.
3. Save the .zip file to your computer.
4. From your wordpress dashboard, go to Plugins->Add New->Upload.
5. Upload the .zip file you just saved, and activate the plugin.

And that’s really all there is to it! You should now see something similar to the above image displayed under your blog posts. Easy, wasn’t it?

A few days ago I was wondering what I could do for small Mother’s Day gifts with Dax. I saw my friend Anna’s blog post with some adorable potted cacti, and I decided to do something similar. First things first? We headed to Home Depot and picked up some cute little succulents, soil, inexpensive pots, and a can of neon pink spray paint.

I wanted the tops of the flower pots to have a hot pink rim, so I taped off the top of the pot, then taped newspaper around the bottom to protect it from paint.

Take the little pots outside and spray on a few thin coats. I also sprayed the inside of them lightly.

Here they are after drying. I took the pots back into our garage and started peeling the tape and newspaper off of each one carefully.

And the rest is pretty self explanatory ;) Time to get dirty!

If you can find a little helper like I did, the process goes a bit faster too. :)

 It’s finally official- we are building a house! If you have been following along our house planning adventure (which has really just begun), I’m happy to share that we have signed papers to build our new home. We are sooo excited about it, and a bit nervous too! I’m very much looking forward to this next chapter in our lives, and I’d like to document the start-to-finish here on my blog. Here are the deets:

They will start building once our lot is permitted for the house we want, which should take 2-3 months. In the meantime, we will be heading to the Design Center to choose all of our colors and materials (squeals!). I’m very much looking forward to that part :) We have already chosen brick for the outside, and we will be doing whites + grays throughout the house. I’m also determined to have a bright red front door! Estimated completion for our house is December/January.

Here’s to a sweet + simple home building process! Do you have any tips for us?

I’ve been looking for a nice calligraphic font for a few projects, and I finally decided on Aphrodite Slim. It’s not a free font or a google web font (whaaa?), but you can check it out or purchase it if you’re interested.  There are a few other variations of this font (along with the many Aphrodite Pro options), but I only chose to showcase these four. I’m personally a fan of the contextual- which is your fave?

In other news, these lovely birthday flowers are blooming in my office as I kick my feet up and start the weekend early. Have a great one!!

I stumbled upon some new purple items while browsing Anthropologie online, and I decided to do feature them on my blog today. I love all of these items, and could surely see them in my home. I especially love the purple robot and earrings!
